It was probably the story of 2008 that tugged at my heart just as much as Obama's win ... when my friend Kaylon Johnson was beaten up by a group of Obama-haters.
Even though one suspect has been arrested, there is still an uneasy silence hovering over the case. Though his attention is probably focused on the upcoming inauguration, Kaylon is still searching for justice.
I'm happy to report that Kaylon finally completed one of his surgeries. During the last week of December 2008, he had successful Open Reduction Nasal Fracture with Septoplasty surgery on his nose at Baylor Surgicare in Dallas, Texas. The surgery lasted and hour and a half.
According to an e-mail sent to me, Kaylon said that " . . . it was the best care that he has ever received". (He also told me that he had to go all the way to Dallas because of poor treatment at LSU-HSC). Kaylon is still in recovery but is in good spirits.
Kaylon is still in need of surgery to repair his eye socket which was very seriously injured.
