Not every Obama supporter gets the chance to travel to D.C. to see President-elect Obama be sworn in ... so some SBC'ers have put together a few events to give those who have to stay behind a place to gather ... Check em out:
- Southern University-Shreveport's department of Social Sciences will host an Inauguration Viewing Party from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday in the multi-purpose room of the SUSLA Library. For more information, call the campus at (318) 670-6000.
- The Robinson Film Center will have a live broadcast of President-elect Obama's inauguration starting at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. This FREE event will take place in the large theater in high-definition video and surround sound. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Concessions also will be on sale during this event. The Robinson Film Center is located at 617 Texas St. in Shreveport.
- A Prayer for The President (and the nation) will be held at Mt. Herman Baptist Church, beginning at Noon. There will be guest speakers/pastors from churches all over the city. Mt. Herman is located at 4109 Powell St. in Shreveport. Call (318) 751-6616 for more information.
- Gigi's Martini Room in downtown Shreveport will be the site of an after-dark Obama Inauguration Celebration. The event starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Gigi's is located at 420 Commerce St.
- Locals will have the opportunity to unite and celebrate the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama at the Bossier-Shreveport Inaugural Ball. This event will be held at the Bossier Civic Center and starts at 7 pm. For more information call (318) 469-5040, 469-0617 or 222-8010.
-- For those that don't know ... OBAMA will be sworn into office at 12 pm EST (11 AM our time), tune into CNN or TV One for LIVE coverage ALL DAY long.
