PARTY PICS: Q.E.'s Birthday Bash @ Bijou

Radio Group/KDKS Media man QUENN ECHOLS partied it up last Saturday (3/6) for a (late) birthday celebration at the BIJOU Ultra Lounge.

Hundreds came out and packed the spot to wish him a happy birthday (I was there to do the same and wish another friend Happy Birthday as well) ...

Technically it WASN'T Quenn's birthday but folks didn't mind indulging in free appetizers, cake and champagne to celebrate anyway.

Depsite the long wait at the bar, everyone had a great time (including me). Check out some photos from the party:

(All pics taken my MAHOGANI MEDIA) ....

You can HEAR Quenn every weekday afternoon on KDKS 102.1 :)

EVENT PICS: Hip Hop Cafe'

The place was nearly packed last Saturday at Just a Little Cafe, where the S.T.A.R. Group presented the first ever HIP HOP CAFE. It was a unique event for a city known nationwide as Ratchet Central.

As GoDJ Q-Ball spinned, there wasn't much Lil' Wayne or Boosie in the playlist. You could hear anything from Tribe Called Quest to The Geto Boys. As chatter and music filled the air, you could see people from all ages, all walks of life ... some regular patrons, some rap artists and some industry reps ... but all were there to celebrate Hip-Hop.

After an open-mic session, host Young Nisa (of KMJJ) and Q-Ball took the crowd on a Coast 2 Coast musical Hip Hop tour. Blasting hits from the East, West, Midwest and of course the Dirty South.

Then followed performances by SMUVE & EK (from the Grambling/Jonesboro area) and BILLY BROADWAY. Local rapper DOM DIDY and his 1st CLASS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP were present but a technical glitch prevented them from performing ...

Also blessing the mic during Open Mic session before and after the show were: POETIC X, THE STORYTELLER, K.I.N.G., RICKY LATT, TDT, and singer MICHAEL BOWDEN with a comical remake of Erykah Badu's "Tyrone" called "Monique" :)

You can see clips of some of the performances at www.youtube.com/mahoganimedia.

And here are some shots from the event:

The next event will be in APRIL. To get on the show or submit songs for the Vol. 2 Compilation CD, e-mail 318star@gmail.com
