Portions of I-220 to narrow for six months
Traffic on Interstate 220 will be reduced to one lane in each direction for about six months. (yes you read that right ... traffic will be screwed up for HALF A YEAR!!!).
The changes are related to the replacement of the McCain Creek bridges and future Interstate 49 construction.
The left lane of I-220 westbound between Blanchard Road and North Market in Caddo Parish closed last Wednesday. And over the weekend, concrete barrier rails and striping were placed on the westbound roadway.
So now the eastbound roadway will be reduced to one lane of traffic and then detoured to the westbound roadway.
The closures will result in a travel width restriction of 12 feet. The lanes are expected to reopen in September.
(In other words, if you can help it ... don't take that route when the weather is bad ... or traffic is heavy)
Burn Bans Still Holding
Caddo and Webster Parishes remain under a burn ban this week, even with the heavy rain expected.
The ban means that burning anything outside is prohibited. High winds and dry conditions, which can contribute to quick spreading fires, prompted the ban.
