If you were of school-age in the 1990's, you know who JODECI is ... and if you don't know who they are -- you better ask somebody! :)
K-Ci, Jo-Jo, Dalvin and Devante were the untouchable foursome that dominated 90's R&B/New Jack Swing music. "Forever My Lady", "Stay", "Come and Talk to Me", "Gotta Love", "Freek N You", "Lately" -- the hits kept coming well into the New Millineum. And though the group really only made THREE albums together under the now-defunct Uptown Records (now under MCA), they made their mark in music as only they could.
But over a decade after JODECI fell apart ... leaving Dalvin and Devante to pursue careers behind the scenes and spawning top-selling albums from brother-duo K-Ci & Jo-Jo, it seems the band of (2 sets of) brothers may be returning to the scene ...
This is JODECI now. Many albums, many hits and many years later ... it seems the group may be back on the mend and preparing for a long awaited reunion.
According to a Wikipedia article, this "reunion" thing has been attempted before.
As early as last summer, the group was scheduling promotional appearances, but only K-Ci and Jo-Jo showed up. AND Jo-Jo passed out at the last performance (his brother K-Ci claims he's epileptic and that's what caused the scene).
We all know about the rumors of drug abuse among the group (namely the Hailey Brothers), but I'm kind of hoping the rumors that all is well and they're back on track are completely and utterly true.
** I'd found two concert dates NEAR the SBC, but just a week after the announcement, the dates have already been cancelled. I'm hoping they get rescheduled soon, and will keep you posted.
Til then ... take a look at this brutally honest, but informative blog about JODECI then and now ... and keep praying for the group to make the comeback -- for REAL this time.
