ON A PERSONAL NOTE:
I've been reading some of the comments on the local media websites and it's amazing to me how people act like they didn't know racism still exists.
I'm not surprised about racist people walking around in the year 2008 -- I'm SAD about it ... but not surprised.
What I AM surprised about is the lack of compassion for human life. This man was beaten up for no damn reason and people are attacking HIM!
-- Some are saying Kaylon is lying and probably just trying to boost sales for his Obama Shop....
-- Some even said that Black people rob, steal and kill more than anyone AND they beat up on Whites all the time ... (so I guess a Black man getting beat up by three White men is no big deal to them).
-- A few were even upset about the account being set up, saying you should donate your money to the families who lost loved ones in wrecks or the people who lost their belongings in that apartment fire at Quail Creek.
Ok, if they set up an account, then fine. But most families have life insurance ... and most apartment tenants have renter's insurance just in case these things happen ...
NO ONE expects for some people to jump them because of their political beliefs or the color of their skin and send them into the hospital AND the operating room. And with health insurance as crappy as it is, it alone won't pay for all the surgeries Kaylon has to have. And he has to prepare to prosecute these thugs when they are caught. I mean seriously ... If you don't want to donate -- DON'T.
-- And many say that we're only hearing one side of the story ... To that I say:
If these men truly were verbally assaulted by Kaylon, why aren't they coming out of hiding and speaking on their own defense??? This story has been in the local media since MONDAY. I KNOW they have seen it.
You know why they haven't turned themselves in??? Because they are COWARDS and Kaylon is telling the truth.
Honestly, no man (especially a Black man) would go public saying he'd been beat up by three men (of ANY color) if it didn't happen ... too much pride for that. These men know there are video tapes. These men know what's coming to them. So they're trying to hold on to their freedom as much as possible.
And even if they DID come out and tell their side of the story ... the bigots, naysayers and closet racists would still believe THEM ... again pitting three against one.
-- A few are calling Kaylon the racist one because he described the attackers as "looking like some rednecks."
Probably shouldn't have been said, but he said it. Now some believe he MUST have said it to them before the attack and they were justified in BEATING HIM DOWN.
Are y'all serious??? So I guess the White teenager who got beat up by the Jena 6 deserved it too??? He should have kept his damn mouth shut as well and he wouldn't have been stomped unconscious ... right? That's just sick!

And for the record, if you look at the people who LIED about crimes by another race -- most of them were WHITE.
- The White woman who claimed a black man stole her car with her kids inside car and we later found out she pushed her car into a lake with them inside and killed them.
- The White woman who disappeared before her wedding and claimed to have been kidnapped by a Hispanic man (and a woman) and raped ... only to find out she just didn't want to get married.
- Or the White woman (a McCain supporter) who claimed to have been attacked by a Black Obama supporter and had a B carved into her cheek ... only to find out she was telling a DAMN LIE.
- And let's not even talk about ROSEWOOD, FL back in the day. Made a whole movie about an entire town of Blacks being killed behind a LIE.
(Seems like the bad track record of fraudulent claims against other races doesn't lie with us ... Hmmmm).
And in NONE of these cases did the public wait for the other side of the story. There was INSTANT NATIONAL media coverage and nationwide searchers for these people. (I'm still waiting on Al and Jesse to come to town for Kaylon).
Yet when the stripper was allegedly raped by members of the Duke Lacrosse Team, you instantly called her a liar (honestly, I felt she was lying too) ... and you wanted the Jena 6 to go to jail for attempted murder. Seems like a double standard to me ...

As I read the comments on the various sites, I can only comment back ... I can only try to educate the ignorant.
Like the people who said that Shreveport is majority Black, and Whites are outnumbered. (So I guess that means they have a REASON to be afraid and beat up on Blacks for no reason).
FOR THE RECORD: Shreveport has about 4% more Blacks than Whites. If you go wider, to Caddo Parish, there are 5% more Whites than Blacks. And if you cross the river into Bossier City, the gap is MUCH greater -- 71% White to 23% Black. (So Shreveport-Bossier is mostly White!!!).
And we're the majority? I can drive 10 miles to Pierre Bossier Mall and instantly I'M outnumbered. Does that mean I should go haul off and kick some Caucasian ass?
No -- because I'm an ADULT ... a CIVIL adult ... there's NO EXCUSE for that kind of behavior.
-- I even read one comment that said Blacks jump Whites all the time (in what world?) and now we "know how it feels".
Oh really? So I guess SLAVERY was just an isolated incident? And the Jim Crow Era was just a few months of violence? Ugh ... the ignorance .. it's sickening.

Seriously -- Have some compassion people ... Show you're human ... Stop pretending racism doesn't exist and stop telling Black people they need to "get over it" ...
Until you've walked in our shoes (or the shoes of ANYONE that has to deal with constant, and sometimes underhanded, discrimination) .. keep your prejudiced traps SHUT!
Racism exists. In ALL races. The only way to overcome it is to talk to EACH OTHER and realize that people like the ones that beat Kaylon are in the minority. They are a product of generations of racists and SOMEONE has the break that cycle.
Why not us??
