Auditions for Summer Arts Program to be held Saturday
Auditions for the 17th annual Yazzy Summer Morning Mix will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the C.E. Byrd High School band room, 3201 Line Ave., Shreveport.
The program is open to all Caddo Parish students ages 6 to 18 and young adults ages 19 to 24.
The Summer Morning Mix will be held June 15 through July 25. Classes are available in art, dance, theater, music, voice and instrumental music.
Participants must audition for their particular discipline and go through an admission process.
The registration fee is $50.

Camp Program Still Seeking Entries
Mahogany Ensemble Theatre, in partnership with the Bossier Arts Council, is seeking youth interested in the performing arts for its Camp Aspire summer arts program.
Camp Aspire is a three-week art experience for youth ages 7 and older. The camp sessions are June 15 to July 2 and July 13-30. The program will be at 630 Barksdale Blvd., Bossier City.
Campers will explore theater, dance, yoga, visual arts and will be featured in a youth production of the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls."

Bossier Parish Pre-K Applications Available
Applications for the Bossier Parish pre-kindergarten program are available now at nine elementary schools in the parish.
Applications can be picked up there through the end of the school year. For an application to be accepted, the child must be 4 years old by Sept. 30, and live in Bossier Parish. These must be mailed to the Bossier Parish Resourc e Center, 3228 Barksdale Blvd., Bossier City, LA 71112.
Priority will be given to children living within a Title I school district. These are surrounding Bossier, Carrie Martin, Central Park, Kerr, Meadowview, Plantation Park, Princeton, Rodes and Waller elementary schools.
The Title I office will process the applications in late June, and parent/guardians will be sent information about the registration procedures for July 8-9. Letters will be mailed to the parent/guardians the first week of August stating acceptance into the program. Completion of an application and registration does not guarantee acceptance.

Learning Center to Have 5-week Camp
The Learning Haven Community Learning Center will have a five-week summer camp at Huntington High School, 6801 Rasberry Lane, in Shreveport from June 15 to July 17, 2009.
Times are from 8 a.m. to noon for the free camp, which is open to sixth- through 12-graders.
The camp will include summer games, enrichment activities, tutoring in reading and math, arts and crafts, and social skills dev elopment. Only 100 slots are available, and the registration deadline is Friday. Breakfast and a snack will be provided.

Summer Cheer Camps Available in Bossier City
Champion Cheernastics of Bossier City is conducting Summer Cheer Camps. Four camps will be offered, and different material will be presented during each camp, according to a news release. The cost is $35 per participant per camp.
Camps are set for June 25—27, July 23—25 and Aug. 6—8. The first camp was held June 4-6. Children ages 4 to 7 attend camp from 10 a.m. to noon each day, while children ages 8 to 12 attend camp from 1 to 3 p.m. each day.
