The Shreveport Chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is hosting a Fun Weekend for Greeks in the SBC.
For those that don't know, the NPHC is the umbrella organization for the 9 Black-Greek letter organizations (aka the Divine 9). Members of the NPHC include members of all the active fraternities and sororities.
Soooooo this weekend, Shreveport's NPHC wants to honor those great Greeks and give them a weekend to enjoy their sisters and brothers in Greekdom ... AND raise some scholarship money!!!
The weekend kicks off FRIDAY night (06.05.09) with a "Movers and Shakers Awards Reception" at the Bijou Ultra Wine Bar (the old McArthur's Building in the Red River Ent. District). Attire is Greek paraphernalia. Admission is $10.
On SATURDAY, beginning at Noon ... the fun continues with a GREEK PICNIC AND FUN DAY at the Bill Cockrell Park (off Pines Road). There will be food, fun and games (table games, volleyball, basketball) ... and there will also be a Step Showcase! Greek paraphernalia is suggested for attendees. A donation of $10 is being asked. This event is open to non-Greeks as well!
On SUNDAY ... the weekend concludes with church service at Morning Star Baptist Church. Service begins at 11 am. The speaker for the day will be Pastor Murphy L. Hunt (Member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity). Morning Star is located at 5340 Jewella Avenue in Shreveport.
There will also be vendors at the events: Stomping Ground of Shreveport, LA; and Shunte's Kollege Korner of Dallas, TX. So come out and enjoy food, fun and Greek fellowship!!!
