After Party Entertainment held the 2nd of their First Fridays on April 3rd at the nightspot named after them (The After Party) ....
The ambiance was there with new tables settings added near the dance floor ... giving patrons the perfect view of the stage ...
Event-goers got to indulge in some complimentary wine and a free buffet ...
A Master on the 1's and 2's, BILL SHARP got the crowd going with a few line dances (okay a couple of people had to do it alone before others joined in lol). I was iffy about an old-school DJ playing for a younger crowd but he impressed me with his old R&B (as in 80s, 90s) and neo-soul selections ... Bravo Bill! LOL ...
Later on, the event featured LIVE entertainment for the first time. Local singer KWEST (K-West) and his band treated the crowd to R&B covers including hits from Ne-Yo and John Legend ...
A female vocalist sat in the with the band and sang a cover of Jazmine Sullivan's "Bust Your Windows" (I swear the girl sounded JUST like her) and Jennifer Holiday's "Spotlight". She tore it down ... no REALLY lol.
Even a photographer from THE TIMES (never got his name but I helped him with lighting his photos lol) was in the house to check things out (and spotlight the nightspot).
All in all the event was chill ... I hope more people will come out next time and support the effort to do something slightly different and classy.
KWEST won't be the entertainment on May's First Friday (which is the 1st, ironically lol). I was asked to sponsor the next one but I dunno ... I'll have to think on that lol.
