EVENT PICS: NAACP Banquet & Krewe of Sobek Coronation

This may have been a slow weekend for nightlife but local organizations had a blast coming to gether for fundraising and revelry ... here are some shots from a couple of events:



ON FRIDAY ...


The Shreveport Chapter of the NAACP held a banquet for their Freedom Fund at the Clarion Hotel this past Friday (9.11).

Community members and area professionals gathered for a moment to remember 9/11 and raise funds for the historic organization.

Guests were treated to a dinner and speaker ... and Lt. General Russel L. Honore was given a token of appreciation from Mayor Cedric Glover.

DOWNTOWN ....


The Krewe of Sobek rang in Mardi Gras season with their Coronation event at Riverview Hall:

This year's theme was "Bon Voyage" ... with Krewe members dressing up like shipmates :)

Other Krewe members (and past royalty) were dressed to impress (above) ... and were joined at the celebration by other local Krewes (below) ...

Looks like the Krewe (and guests) had a GREAT time "letting the good times roll" .... LOL.

The Krewe of Sobek hosts their annual Bal in January, and their annual parade throught downtown Shreveport will be held January 10th.
