EVENT PICS: In Case You Missed It ....

I know I'm hella late posting these but in case you didn't hear about (or weren't at) CrowdPleaser Entertainment's BEST DANCE CREW event on August 30th ... Here's what you missed:






Hundreds came out to see dance crews from all over the city (and even beyond the city) to battle it out at Festival Plaza.

While event-goers waited for the show to begin, they practiced, and go their groove on to songs played by the DJ.

Once the event started, the hosts (DJ Marle Mar and Fatha Flow) took the stage. Kicking off the event ... a dance contest for the kids ....

Little dancers got up and did everything from the Stanky Legg to the Jerk. Everyone was announced a winner :)

Next up was an exhibition by brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha. (For those who know ... there was a lotta popcorn, but they weren't competing, so it was okay - LOL).






After the ALPHAs ... S.O.P., a group of young men, got up there and did a little step of their own (very tight, might I add) ... I don't remember if they were part of the competition but they definitely did their thing!








Several other groups got up on the stage ... Including the 318 Beautyz (pictured below; YDMS and CMM students who did EXCELLENT) ...








Candy Coated (or is it Kandy Koated?) and The Fantasy Boyz also got up to show their "skills" ...








There was also another group (I think called PYT .. pictured below) that displayed some very SEXUAL moves on the stage. Even FATHA FLOW made a comment about DEJAVU being down the street.







These dancers had to be in high school (I think) and were humping the stage (and each other) and the girls were rubbing themselves ... I was looking around like "Where are their parents? Who let them practice this? WTF?" ... When Flow made his comment, I was glad to know I wasn't the only one (LOL).





A couple of artists got up and rapped and sang but then it was back to business. Next up were what later became the 2 finalists in the contest: THE CLUB OWNERS and STATIKK.






I've seen a few of the members of the CLUB OWNERS out in -- what else? -- CLUBS!!! B-boys to the heart, they immediately constructed a dance floor out of long tabletops and did their thing ...







The only complaint would have to be their music ... there were all kinds of MFs and Fs in the music and there were PLENTY of kids in the audience. I think it kind of took away from their performance.

DJ MARLE MAR did make note on the mic, a little later, that contest rules stated no cursing ... so I thought they'd be DQ'd. But they made it to the Top 2.




Up Next ...

STATIKK ... A crew of one (I also wondered if she'd get DQ'd for not being an entire crew, but I was later told there was no rule about the number of crew members ... soooo ...)





Statikk gave a mix of dance, from lyrical to hip hop to freestyle ... she covered the entire stage. The girl is bad .. seriously.


So it was no surprise that she and the Club Owners ended up in the Top spots. It then went to sudden death ... and they took the stage together to battle for the cash prize.






The four guys hit every trick they knew ... Statikk hit some b-boy stuff too. In the end, it was the crowd's decision ... and they chose Statikk.

The night closed with a special tribute to Michael Jackson by Mosley's Movements. The kids were amazed and impressed (grown folks already know lol).

So now YOU know :) CPE says they plan to make this event bigger and better next time, so I'll keep you posted on the next one.
