Usually when someone asks where you can listen to some great LIVE jazz music, a Louisianian will point you towards New Orleans (the birthplace of the music genre)... but you can enjoy some great jazz music right here in the SBC, courtesy of Total Choice.
Every Friday night, Total Choice is on stage at GiGi's Martini Room, beginning at 8 pm (doors open at 6 pm).
I was there last Friday and was treated to an AMAZING performance by sax player/vocalist Eddie Spencer who blew everyone else who touched the mic that night out of the WATER. The regular sax player (shout out to Curtis) is serving as Minden High School's band director so he wasn't there but I'm SO glad I was blessed with Mr. Spencer's music that night. I swear at one point he was playing with one hand!!! I'll say it again ... AMAZING!!!
If you're like me and my homegirl were (looking for something to do on Friday night), head to GiGi's ... there's 2 for 1 drink specials until 10 pm and free food until it lasts!!! Plus admission is free before 9 pm ... It's a great (and cheap) way to spend a Friday night.
TC is also performing elsewhere in the area every weekend. On SATURDAY night they are at La Rouge Restaurant on Mansfield Road (formerly Oxford Street Restaurant). Get there around 7 or 8 pm.
And on SUNDAY they are in East TX (Longview to be exact) at The Cotton Club (on Hwy 80 in downtown Longview). The show there starts at 8 pm.
Believe me, no matter where u end up to see this band, it's well worth it!!!
BTW ...
The Red River Revel kicks off Saturday night (10.4) at Festival Plaza.
This annual family event is centered around children expressing themselves through art. Remember having to submit something for the Revel when you were little? (LOL).
It's a GREAT festival to take young ones too (and the WHOLE family) ... or just go see some great art and eat some great food. Support the community and go check it out ....
