Besides seeing the aisles and aisles of Halloween candy (and costumes), you know it's October when the pumpkins come out to play :)
There are several pumpkin patches up and running in the SBC. So go by, take a look, take some pictures even, and buy one to go home and carve up. And make me a pie! :)
Asbury's Pumpkin Patch
All sizes pumpkins, gourds, pumpkin bread. Hours are from 9 am to 7 pm, with story time from 9 a.m.-noon. Miniature Pumpkin prices $.50-$1. Proceeds go to fund mission projects. The church is located at 3200 Airline Drive in Bossier. (318) 746-5349.
St. Luke's Annual Pumpkin Patch
All varieties and sizes of pumpkins along with gourds, Indian corn, corn stalks and hay. Pumpkin prices $1.50 and up. Proceeds are donated to many local, state and international charities. Hours are from 9 am to 8 pm. The church is located at 6012 Youree Drive in Shreveport. (318) 868-3613.
Keithville's Pumpkin Patch
All sizes orange and white pumpkins, small gourds, baked goods and more while supplies last. Pumpkin Patch Hours: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and 3-8:30 p.m., Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Sat., 12:30-8:30 p.m., Sun. Oct. 18, Kraft Fair, 8 a.m.; Oct. 25, Kid's Day, 9 a.m. Pumpkin prices $1.50 and up. Another sign that Fall (and Halloween) has arrived is the popular Corn Maize, which becomes the Haunted Maize closer to Hallow's Eve. The maize is located up North in Dixie, La (my dad's hometown).
