SBC 411: CMM = Blue Ribbon Education+ NAACP = Food & Fundraising

CMM Awarded Blue Ribbon

Caddo Middle Magnet has been named a "Blue Ribbon School" by the U.S. Department of Education. The blue ribbon designation is the highest honor given to schools by the Department of Education. U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings said schools that receive the honor serve as models for other schools throughout the nation.

Caddo Middle Magnet is currently the top performing middle school in Louisiana according to test scores and was the only middle school in the state to receive this national honor.

Principal Louis Cook, retired Principal Kay Robinson and Ginger Gustavson, Blue Ribbon chairwoman at the school, will represent the school at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 20-21, when each school receives a plaque and flag signifying their status.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools that are either academically superior or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement

On a personal note ... I'm happy CMM is finally getting its recognition. I graduated from CMM (as well as Byrd High, another Blue Ribbon School) and it's exciting to know some schools in this parish are doing education RIGHT.

I was at CMM recently for my nephew's football game and was in awe that they had a football team and CHEERLEADERS ... they didn't have that when I was there! (lol) ... Nor did they have a TV station (which they do now!) ...

Anyway, CONGRATS to CMM and all my fellow Stallions ... job well done!
