The Inaugural SOUTHERN BLACK THEATRE FESTIVAL continues this week after a strong start this past weekend.
I was so busy I didn't get a check to get to any of the events but I will be somewhere this week!
Take an afternoon, evening or even the week to take in some serious Black culture (you know we don't get that in the SBC that often!).
Here's a look at this week's events:
Monday, September 22nd
7:00 pm - Onyx Vintage Cinema Presentation of 'Imitation of Life' @ The Robinson Film Center

7:00 pm - Write On! Stage Reading and Spoken Word @ Pamoja Cultural Arts Center
** featuring one act play by emerging writer, Mawiyah Bomani and prose by a host of talented spoken word artists from the South.hosted by festival partnering organization. The Center is located at 3806 Linwood Avenue.

3:30 pm - Black Out: A Historical & Social Discourse on Black Theatre in America @ East Bank Theatre/Bossier Arts Council
** featuring an open public dialouge with a distinguished panel of scholars and veteran theatre practitioners consisting of Dr. Alex Marshall, Dr. Ava Brewster-Turner, Dr. King David Godwin, Mr. Douglas Turner Ward, Ms. Gloria Gipson, and Mr. John O'Neal. Moderator: Karen-kaia Livers
