For those of you who have become regular patrons of Mingles Bar and Grill in South Shreveport, you may have already heard this ... but for those of you who haven't -- Tonight's BOO PARTY (mentioned in my Weekend Hapz) has been cancelled.
Not only that, the spot has been shut down until their to-be-announced Grand Opening.
I would go ahead and put some people on front street as I hypothesize why this happened, but let's just say: HATERS STRIKE AGAIN.
Competition is an ugly thing ... and here in the SBC, it's a breeding ground for bitchassness when it comes to parties and nightlife.
Seems like every time a business managed by a young, Black person opens anywhere near establishments that cater to patrons of varied races, there's a problem.
Of course having tipsy people hanging out outside, promoting the spot as a BYOB venue, and allegedly not having a liquor license doesn't help.
BUT -- I suspect that even if all that wasn't a factor, it would still be a problem. Because people (including OUR people) don't like to see other succeed more than them and/or steal their shine. It's sad, but SO ture.
When the place is packed with only word-of-mouth promotion and feels more like a family gathering than a club, AND has the hottest DJ in the city spinning ALL NIGHT, I guess it's worth hatin' on. LOL.
So Mingles, we'll see you later .... Haters never prosper.
