It's been almost 8 years since we last hear from Maxwell ... one of the leaders in the Neo-Soul music movement of the mid to late 90's. His eccentric look caught our attention and his sultry falsetto kept it as he delivered three amazingly unique albums (not including his Unplugged album) in just five years.
Then he disappeared. That cool, handsome fellow that some called "our generation's Marvin Gaye" just up and left us. For years his comeback was rumored ... becoming more like an urban fairy tale than an actual occurence.
But when a snippet of "Pretty Wings" surfaced on his MySpace page two years ago, it seemed the myth that he was back on the music scene became a reality.
When he appeared on the stage at last year's BET AWARDS, it was a confirmation of what we'd all been waiting on ... His tribute to Al Green was amazing. His new look was super sexy ... and the voice and stage presence were still electric. To make it even better ... it's announced he'll be touring again ... hitting the stage of the Essence Music Festival ... and dropping a NEW ALBUM!
Now here we are, eagerly awaiting the return of REAL music. In the day and time where "Stanky Legg" and anything sung/rapped by Lil Wayne, Boosie and T-Pain dominate radio ... Maxwell is back to break the monotony with some true SOUL.
BLACKsummers'night (the first of a trilogy) hits shelves and the web TODAY: Tuesday, July 7th --- 07/07/09 ...
With 7 and 9 being numbers of the Divine ... I know this is going to be AMAZING. Live music (i.e. a BAND) backing one of the most amazing male vocalists of our time.
The regular CD has 9 tracks on it ... the DELUXE version has a DVD as well, chronicling the making of the album and the video to "Pretty Wings" ... from what I hear listening to the snippets ... this is going to be a platinum album (and something you'll definitely want to BUY).
- Go listen to the album HERE, preview the DVD HERE, read a preview HERE and check out his OFFICIAL site HERE.

IN OTHER MUSIC NEWZ ...
It seems like EVERY DAY since MICHAEL JACKSON's death, more and more of his music is becoming available via web.
Right now most of his albums are available for less than $15 (some even at 7 or 10 bucks) ... and as I type this, on AMAZON.COM, their top 10 selling albums (online) are ALL M.J.-related (both solo and albums with J5).
Coming later THIS month to websites and store shelves -- more and more imports (on vinyl, CD and DVD ... ranging between 30 and 50 bucks), but here's one of the more expensive albums you may want to purchase:
This 5-disc collection holds over 70 MJ songs from five of his solo albums. The cost? Only $50. That's like $10 an album (and each one has at least 9 songs on it).
MICHAEL JACKSON: THE COLLECTION will be available on Tuesday, July 14th. [Go HERE to buy or pre-order it.]
If that sounds unreasonable, then check out the other offerings online. (And then remember that there are some compilations going for $100 or more).
Note: An Amazon search for MJ MUSIC yields over 1,000 results ... see them all HERE. .... And for MJ and Maxwell fans .... If you buy Max's new album, you can get a copy of MJ's "Bad" and "Thriller" too .... all for under $30!!
THAT IS ALL PEOPLE!!! ... As we say goodbye to a musical icon ... we welcome back another amazing talent. Celebrate them both .... BUY their music!!!
