This Saturday morning, SUSLA's campus will play host to a national event targeting the LOCAL dropout crisis.
A new report commissioned by America’s Promise Alliance finds that the local graduation rate is 59.4%--meaning that four in ten Shreveport teens do not graduate with their class.
In response to this crisis, various organizations and the City of Shreveport will host The Shreveport Dropout Prevention Summit: Parent University .
This event is one of 100 such events nationwide in which local leaders will develop workable solutions to prepare our youth for college, work and life–starting with a high school diploma.
This summit is part of the national effort to curb high school dropout rates. The event will tae place from 10 am to 12 pm at the SUSLA's Health and P.E. building (GYM)
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Rob Dixon, Project RISE Executive Director & teacher at Thayer Academy, Braintree, MA
ALSO EXPECTED TO ATTEND: Caddo Superintendent Gerald Dawkins, Mayor Cedric Glover, District Attorney Charles Scott, Sheriff Steve Prator, school personnel, elected officials and community leaders
The community is encouraged to come out and learn what THEY can do to help OUR children succeed in school and GRADUATE! Parental involvement is IMPORTANT to OUR children's success.
